"When The Rivers Are Hot (1980)"
Ross Campbell & Fat Chants
HOT VINYL
This was Fat Chants' first studio recording and has gained some notoriety among the global vinyl collectors' community. It talks of nuclear accidents that have released radio-active water and fall-out, endangering species, including ours.
This Vinyl LP was Produced by Vancouver's Claire Lawrence, of Chilliwack & Hometown Band fame, & Recorded at Pinewood Studios in Vancouver in 1982. This version of"When The Rivers Are Hot (1982)" is much more laid back and less political than the more famous 1980 version, yet very funky in its mid-80s way, even featuring a Prophet 5 synthesizer, the latest rage at the time. Check it out to hear the different bass lines by Brian ("Nuke") Newcomb & very groovy percussion by Kat Hendrikse.

This white Fat Chants album was Recorded Live at several favourite Edmonton venues, including The Shadows Lounge, The Palms Cafe, The Boiler Lounge, The Sidetrack Cafe & The Princess Theatre. FAT CHANTS LIVE @ HOTBOX
This CD was Recorded Live at the famous HOTBOX, one of Edmonton's early Jazz & Swing venues, attended and performed by many of the Master Teachers & Star Students of the Grant MacEwan Jazz School just down the road. It includes some of Alan Stein's hilarious, spontaneous monologues between songs, which are unavailable on the Download version. As you will hear, Alan was a natural stand-up comedian and could turn anything into a joke.
