I Want You To Know - W Ross Campbell (SOCAN) Verse I Well I want you to know that I know I screwed it up and probably I'd screw it up again But you gave me some happiness --- Don't think that I forgot you were my friend I wanted you to know me when I hardly knew myself I wanted you to love what I could not I'm so tired of that lesson for you see it's not the first time I've been taught So Goodbye, I am Sorry, I'll remember you Well Verse II On that Tuesday back in August when you met me at the plane Leaving you was the last thing on my mind But you were so Unselfish--- Don't you know I know you think that I was Blind? So Goodbye, I am Sorry, I'll remember you Well So Goodbye, I Still Love You, I'll remember you Well

Review from TUMBLR Ross Campbell with The FatBand - SuperCircuitMan and other retro relix Ross Campbell with The FatBand is a band with a rather unique approach to their blend of funk, rock and alternative music. Their recent studio effort is a full-length album titled “SuperCircuitMan and other retro relix”. Their music is really hard to predict and categorize within a single music genre. The opening track serves as a “lead-in” to the album, and it definitely sets the mood for the entire record with a cool retro funk twist. On “Give My Heart To You”, the combo explores classic reggae influences, with a groovy drum sound, deep bass, and catchy lyrics. on “The Life”, the sonic concept shift towards 80s pop influences. I particularly love the clav riffs in the song, and the way it seamlessly interplays with the acoustic guitar strumming. This song is uplifting, playful and direct, with a truly unique feel. On “Dance On The Breeze”, this album takes a rather unexpected twist, borrowing inspiration from folk and country music, while maintaining its unique pop sensibilities. I love the light-hearted feel of this song and the catchy lyrics. The title track reprises the theme and feel of the introductory lead-in. The gang vocals sort of making me think of artists such as Captain Beefheart, yet the funk/rock vibes are absolutely infectious, echoing the work of artists such as Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Inventions. On “Must You Use The Word “Love”, the combo explores yet another uncharted musical territory in this release, diving into some awesome swing/jazz influences and a rather humanistic set of lyrics. The diverse spectrum of the album broadens with “Entre Chien et Loup”, a moving folk ballad with some stunning atmospheres and with some unique melodies with a retro feel. The strings add depth and color to this mix’s folky influences. Following number “My Cup Runneth Over” reprises the reggae themes, going for a gritty old school vibe and a powerful groove with some great rhythm guitar chops. On “Whacha Doin’To Me, Video”, the band stretches their funk influences into a gleeful 80s pop sound. The bass tone is bright and massive, while the drums are particularly punchy and dance-floor friendly. “Bad Cop Song” is a funk track that is also the hardest-hitting rock tune on this record. The up-front overdriven guitar tone makes me think of performers such as Cheap Trick or Huey Lewis, where melody and energy collide in equal doses. “Sandra”, the last full song on the record, is built upon an infection funk groove, by the chorus will take you by surprise with a mellow chord progression that nearly reminds me of The Beatles - one of the most peculiar tracks on this album. The lead-out reprises the album’s main Super Circuit Man theme and closes the curtains in style! Find out more and listen: http://www.supercircuitman.com/ Posted on: 7 August 2017 Share

  • Pornography | supercircuitman

Pornography Oh Lady Be Bad Okay, technically this song is not really about Pornography, but we got your attention. Before Ross Campbell wrote this song, he used to perform the 1920s classic Oh Lady Be Good , and couldn't resist a chance to play with words, especially now that Bad can mean Good. When Micheal Jackson sang "I'm Bad!", he actually meant "I'm So Good!" • LYRICS | supercircuitman

Must You Use The Word "Love"? - W Ross Campbell Must you use the word "Love"? I know you're fond of me You know I think the world of you But when you use the word "Love" the time confuses me And I forget I'm only passing through Must you always say "We"? As though we'll never part As though I'll never say goodbye And must I know when I leave That you'll be torn apart? Must you set yourself up just to cry? Please don't misunderstand me It's not that I don't feel That surge of warmth when you come in That signals something real Come and lie down by my side And put your lips to mine And whisper to me what you're thinking of But don't be shocked if I say When you've been whispering Darling, must you use the word "Love"?

  • Denied Love | supercircuitman

Denied Love Your Smile Dogs Me Everyw here I Go To quote a 60s Classic, "Breakin' Up Is Hard To Do!" This song describes the mental and emotional turmoil which often follows a sudden break-up, especially a one-sided one. Old shared habits and scenes can still pop up in one's mind, driving one to despair, and possibly to drink. Ross got hooked on the concept of us ing the word Dog as a Verb, th en he got into an Animal Riff, and the song just seemed to write itself from there, with liberal input from Allan Stein & Mairi Maclean who add some great jazz chords into the vocal mix. Your Smile Dogs Me Everywhere I go 00:00 / 03:46 If you like this song, you can DOWNLOAD IT FOR FREE HERE DOWNLOAD LYRICS This Trio Version of Fat Chants, Ross Campbell's early swing band, has Mairi Maclean on Rhodes Piano, holding down both bass lines AND chords, and Allan Stein on Guitar Fat Chants specialized in tight 3-part vocals.
